Thin Space No. 29: Soft Growl and Chortle

The Question

How comfortable are you expressing uncomfortable emotions?

The Intention

Release

The Meditative Moment

Let’s try some Lion’s Breath. Inhale deeply. As you exhale, stick out your tongue and push the breath out your mouth, creating a soft growl. You might also want to roll your eyes toward the ceiling. Inhale deep. Exhale, tongue out and growl. This might make you laugh! Totally normal. I love Lion’s Breath precisely for that reason. It gets me out of the heaviness I’m feeling by moving out the hot air and letting me chortle. (Yes, chortle.) It’s also good when you’re dealing with uncomfortable emotions because, well, this breath is a little uncomfortable. We don’t often stick out our tongues or roll our eyes back (unless we’re teenagers). This breath isn’t “proper” or “nice” or “presentable.” Nope. It’s loud and awkward and cathartic. Give it a whirl and let me know what you think.
